ThreadedNOTE! The new, major release of ThumbList² is out. This page should be considered obsolete. Please see http://tl.5ko.fr/ (you will be redirected in 2 seconds.) Some sites experience such problems when trying to generate all thumbnails:
As of version Thumblist-2007-08-02, the threaded mode is enabled by default. With the threaded version, first the page structure is displayed, then, every thumbnail is created with a separate PmWiki process. This should avoid any of the three issues listed on top of this page. If you have a very big picture, only its handling process may crash, but not the page itself. Note that you may use the Supercache, but the list will be stored automatically only if and when all thumbnails are created (no process crashed). Please note : Our scripting language PHP is not meant to do heavy image processing, so the thumbnails may not work with very big images. Most default PHP installations (usually 8M memory) can handle maximum a 2 megapixel image (about 1600*1200 pixels, colored at 4 bytes/px). If you have problems with some pictures, try to resize them down a little: a picture of 1024*768 pixels is more than enough for most visitors' screens. |
