Petko, I've added some more tests^[1]. There are some subtle differences depending on whether captions are used or not. Reading the documentation has left me unclear as to the differences between caption= and captionfmt=, and I wonder why two different commands are supported. Simon.

caption= is the table caption, usually on top of the table, captionfmt= formats the repeated captions of each thumbnail (like titlefmt= formats the repeated tooltip title). captionfmt= was designed to be easier/shorter to use for a single (:thumb:), than the alternative (:thumbgallery:)file.jpg|captionfmt...(:thumbgalleryend:) --Petko 2008-07-06 23:58:52

Thanks, I understand. Please check out why there are different sizes fo the "Outlook hill" and "Meterological Radar" pictures depending on whether a caption is supplied or not. It seems to me they should be the same size in both tests.

Yes, Simon. There is this bug or feature (depends on what you want to achieve) that when you have a single thumb in a table with captionfmt, the px= parameter is considered as a width= parameter, much like in MediaWiki, because usually the editor would like to fix the width of the single picture, and not the hight. Because in webpages we usually need deal with the elements' widths. Now, this bug/feature was here for a very long time, before the appearance of a width= parameter, and I do not know if many people rely on it; if I change it, it will break their webpages. You could change it, by editing line 124 of the script and changing:

  if($captionfmt)$opt['cols'] = $Width = 1;

to

  if($captionfmt)$opt['cols'] = 1;

Or you can just use height= instead of width=.

I think I've had enough of this script which once again became too complex, too complicated, too big, with too many options and too many wasted time and un-satisfaction. I'm thinking of writing a very small, fast and simple replacement these days, with no or few parameters, easier markup (like

 Mini:Image.jpg

square thumbnails, without image trails but with lightbox? slideshows, no tables or captions, no support for unsupported filenames (spaces or uppercase extensions) etc. If you have some thoughts/ideas/wishes, please let me know. --Petko 2008-07-08 00:25:40

Mini looks very cute. Thumblist2 is meeting all my needs, it was just this discrepency of being able to set height or width. Your implementation of height is great for my needs. Thankyou. I hope you don't feel I am unsatisfied, far from it. I think you can be satisfied that you have produced a truly useful, and professional script, without which PmWiki would be by far the poorer. It is the people like me, who just want a little more out of it, who are pushing the boundaries. Again thanks, I do apprecieate the large amount of time you must have committed to this. - Simon
